Want to learn Ruby - Try Ruby is the best web application for you..

What is Ruby

Ruby is a language of careful balance. Its creator, Yukihiro “matz” Matsumoto, blended parts of his favorite languages (Perl, Smalltalk, Eiffel, Ada, and Lisp) to form a new language that balanced functional programming with imperative programming.

He has often said that he is “trying to make Ruby natural, not simple,” in a way that mirrors life.

Building on this, he adds:

Ruby is simple in appearance, but is very complex inside, just like our human body.

Try Ruby

Want to learn to program in Ruby without installing it on your computer or learning how to use cryptic commands? Try Ruby! gives you an interactive Ruby prompt right in your browser that you can use to learn the basics of Ruby programming. Combine this with the free online eBook Learn to Program, and you’ll be coding away in no time! Best of all, it’s now been upgraded with the new Code School site, which offers advanced lessons in programming with integrated online IDEs that make it easier to learn how to code online.

What is WeTransfer:
WeTransfer is an Web application which help you to send large files to anyone with an email address. This is free application and the end user supposed to have any email address. You can send up to 2GB and no sign up required.

How to send files using WeTransfer:
WeTransfer interface looks very simple and anyone can easily send files. Select the file to be uploaded, and enter the list of recipients email addresses (You can add 20 email addresses separated by space). Then enter your comments followed by hitting Transfer button.

Once your file has been uploaded, you’ll receive an email confirmation with options to forward the files to more people and even a link to the download that you can share via IM or on social networks. You’ll also receive email notifications when your recipients download your files. The emails sent out to to your recipients are neat and professional and don’t go to spam folders.

The biggest advantage of using WeTransfer is that you don’t have to wait till uploads complete to enter your recipients’ email addresses, which means you can set a large file to upload without having to wait around to actually send it – and the email alerting you of your successful file upload is reassuring.

Share Files & Links with CloudApp

CloudApp is a file sharing app that allows you to share images, links, music, videos and files. Once you upload a file, you’re provided with a link that you can send to anyone.

It supports two accounts, either free or paid. In free account you can upload 10 files daily and a max file size of 25MB. The paid account will allow unlimited daily uploads, a 250MB max file size, and you can add customer domain too.

How to upload file:

Once you created an account, you can start uploading your files and links.
To add a file, click the word “File” under the form field to add a bookmark and it will change to an uploader. Select the file you want to upload (only one at a time), and upload it.

Sharing Links
Once you add a link or a file, it’s assigned a custom link you can use for sharing. There are two types of links: public and private. The difference is that the “private” links use a longer key that is harder to guess than the public ones.
Deleting Drops
In order to delete a drop, you need to click the checkbox associated with the drop, then click the delete button at the top of the page. This is nice when you want to delete several drops at once.

Asana - Free Project Management application

Asana, the next big project from one of the team members at Facebook, is a free solution to managing your tasks as a team

The first thing that you’ll notice is that I said that this is a free project management tool. In a world crowded with other options, small business owners might be tempted with having another tool at their disposal without the costs associated with that tool. In that sense, free is a good thing.

Asana is the modern way to work together.  Asana can help you in writing status emails, tracking down updates, and generally doing “work about work.”  Not only can you work faster, you can also take on bigger and more interesting goals.

The application is organized into three panes: On the left are the projects in the current workspace. When you add people to your team’s workspace they get access to all of the projects. In the center is the name of the selected project, and the checklist of tasks in that project. Expand the right pane to edit task details like the assignee, due date, and comments.

For more details go to Asana
